Donna Matrix began her venture into music while touring with the Dead in her teens. When Jerry died, she wandered around in a haze until she channelled her guiding light beings from the Pleiades on what to do next. She was instructed to go to a psytrance rave and take ecstasy for the first time. After shaving off her dredlocks and taking a shower, she realized that her future was in dance music. Now a staple in San Francisco's vibrant breaks scene, she frequently terrorizes hippies on the dancefloor with non-organic, dirty basslines that have no 'ethnic' stylings whatsoever.
It is rumored that she can also throw down some mean jungle!!!!!!

at the recent Binaural Dimensions dark-electronix festival and wanted to
let people know that I"ll be performing in San Francisco on this Thursday
evening in the headline slot at the LUGGAGE STORE Experimental Music
Series.

I'm working on a new series of pieces (notably one for two toy pianos and another
using some new vocal techniques that I've been trying to innovate) and I'm excited
to play this really cool venue.

The Luggage Store is at 1007 Market Street and the show is from 8-10 with my
good friend, the talented Lx Rudis opening up.

Last month's ROCK THIS TOWN defied all expectations. New Wave City's DJ Skip dropped a mini-set of 80's hair metal and 50's rockabilly. Beautiful bartenders danced on the bar to Salt N' Pepa. DJ pHreaki bOi got downright freaky with T'Pau, Roxette and Benny Benassi. Tomas Diablo layered Nine Inch Nails on top of Genesis. Anything was fair play: Guns N' Roses and Daft Punk. This Friday, May 19th, the Cult of Defiance returns for its one-year
anniversary! Join our six residents plus special guest DJs for one
unforgettable night of gothic rock, industrial dance, new wave,
deathrock, punk, and psychobilly.

Our special guests this month are the following longtime allies
from SC and SJ.

1. The Electronic Revolutionary Dissident... and Fellow Industrial
Assassin... :LynX:, who will be joining the residents in the front
room for some highly danceable music spanning multiple genres.
2. The Mistress of the Arcane Art of Deathrock, Kelly, who will be
spinning in the Black Cat Lounge.
3. Last but not least, The Orchestrator of Destruction, longtime
friend and collaborator, Mike Creep, who will also be in the Black
Cat Lounge.

Our resident lineup is as follows for the three rooms...

In the front and back rooms we will have the following residents:
the Gothfather and Spectre of Darkness Himself, Narce Talksin; the
High Priestess and Keeper of the Seventh Seal, Neshamah; the Man for
Whom the Dark Electronic Bell Tolls, pHreakiBoi; the Terror from
Beyond East Berlin, Tristan von Wasserspeier; and the Archbishop of
Malta, Ðante.

In the Black Cat Lounge, we have resident DJs: the Commander of the
Seventh Undead Legion of Hell and the Nameless Horror from Beyond the
Crypt, the Meester; and the Devolutionary Lady of Punk, Neshamah.

As usual, doors open at 9:00pm and close at 1:40am. It's $5 at the

Breaking News

Big San Francisco Quake predicted for Sunday, May 28th

Scientists have unanimously concluded that the next big quake will hit San Francisco on Sunday, May 28th, between 9PM and 2AM. They have even managed to pinpoint the exact location of the epicenter - at a lovely art deco bar named Catalyst Cocktails, at 312 Harriet Street (off Bryant between 6th and 7th).

"Normally we can't predict such an event with any certainty," said Dr. Feelgood of the San Francisco Booty Quake Society. "But this time we're sure. There will be three incredible forces of nature convening on that exact spot at that time - it's a "perfect storm" scenario. At the very least, we expect to experience a house quake."

The three "forces of nature" that Dr. Feelgood refers to are DJ Skip from New Wave City, pHreaki bOi from Spin THIS, and Tomas Diablo of Strangelove. "We consider the seismic force of '80s new wave and rock, '90s dance and new electro all under one roof to be substantial. And we can't stress enough the importance of being prepared for such an event. Make sure you have access to both a beverage and the dancefloor at all times."

The event is free (no cover!), so this reporter will definitely be there to enjoy the music and the incredible fruit-infused drinks. On Sunday of Memorial Day weekend - where will YOU be for this historic occasion?
